Skill Level: Easy beginner
WHY THIS SANTA HAT CROCHET PATTERN IS SPECIAL:
This crochet santa hat pattern features a classic Santa design with a fluffy white faux fur trim and pom pom on top. The hat has a perfect slouchy fit that stays on comfortably. Unlike other patterns, this santa hat crochet pattern is designed to keep its shape and not stretch out. The faux fur trim adds extra warmth and that authentic Santa look.
HOW TO CROCHET THIS SANTA HAT – STEP BY STEP:
Round 1: Start with magic ring, make 8 single crochet in ring. Pull tight.
Round 2-6: Increase rounds to shape the crown. Follow size chart for your size. For newborn, increase to 40 stitches. For adult large, increase to 72 stitches.
Round 7-22: Work even in double crochet for the body of the hat. This creates the main red part of your Santa hat. For taller slouch, add 5 extra rounds.
Round 23-28: Switch to white faux fur yarn for brim trim. Work single crochet around for fluffy brim. Use 6.5mm hook for looser trim.
Finishing: Weave in all ends with yarn needle. Make large pom pom with fur yarn and attach to top of hat. Pom pom should be 3-4 inches fluffy.
